Now that the cold weather is here, having a collection of rugs underfoot is almost a necessity. Swapping bare floors for small cotton or coir rugs makes for a nice, inexpensive transition when that luxurious piece just isn’t in the budget! Customizing these types of rugs is not only quick and easy, but a great way to test different patterns in various spaces. We picked up a few lightweight cotton rugs with the intention of mixing up some basic stripes with zig zags, triangles and other shapes inspired by the ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape and Patternbank trend report released earlier this year.
We’re seeing global influences in the design world more than ever, and the Geo Elemental pattern we found over at the ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape™ + Patternbank trend report adds a clean, modern feel to those ancient patterns for the perfect combination of contemporary and universal. See the slideshow above for the steps we took to transform our cotton rug into a mash-up of patterns fit for a library reading spot!
